About this location
In 1984 Clonmel Youth Training Enterprises first opened its doors to provide second chance education and training opportunities for early school leavers. Through the years funding has been provided by Anco/Fas, V.E.C. probation services and Tipperary E.T.B
The centre is run by a professional team of staff under the guidance of Ellen O Donnell, manager for 33 years and a voluntary board of management drawn from the local community.
The first centre was in the old technical institute owned by St Vincent de Paul in the heart of Clonmel. We outgrew the building and in 1998 on the outskirts of the town a modern state of the art training centre was built.
Our philosophy is to encourage and believe in every learner and to help them achieve their full potential and follow their aspirations.
C.Y.T.E. learners have been awarded certification in a broad range of vocational modules supported through Communications, Maths I.T. Personal Effectiveness, Sport and recreation and S.P.H.E.
Many of our learners have progressed to third level further education, training and employment.
We are very proud of our learners who have achieved excellence through sport, volunteering, fundraising.
A key feature of our activity is through creating enterprise initiatives and networking with our local community. This enables us to showcase individual talents and gifts of our learners. Many
enterprising activities have taken place through close cooperation with various local community groups.
