About this location
Finglas CTC opened in 1984 and provides a service for disadvantaged young Early School Leavers from our community. Parts of Finglas have been affected by the cruel world of gangland,
drug addiction and criminality. The Management Board have developed an approach to training that recognises the risks that Early School Leavers are likely to come up against. This is done
through engaging with a network of organisations to deliver a holistic training plan to suit the individual needs of our Learners.
Finglas CTC advocates for our learners and families to obtain services required to improve their daily lives. We are trusted by parts of our community that traditionally do not positively engage
with state agencies. Since our opening there have been almost 1,700 Learners through the centre almost all of them from the Finglas area. For many years the centre offered the opportunity to sit the full Junior Certificate equipping Learners with the qualifications required to become trades people.
Case Study:
Robert completed his Junior Cert with us in 2001. He obtained a Mechanical Apprenticeship with a local garage. He now owns VCR, a large garage based in Finglas. Our present Learners participate on work experience programmes with Robert. We hope to get our first apprenticeship with VCR in the coming months.
Finglas CTC has established a strong reputation of trust and credibility within the local community. We promote an inclusive approach to education and training and through a network of contacts we aim to address the diverse needs of our Learners.
