About this location
Kilkenny Employment for Youth was founded in 1983. The centre has evolved and developed, updating departments and courses, adding premises and facilities, in response to the local feedback from learners and employers.
The centre originally offered training in Woodwork, Arts and Crafts, Catering or Sewing and Knitting. In 1997 the centre introduced a new department, Information Technology and Office Skills, and opened an outreach centre in nearby Castlecomer.
In 1999 the decision was made to offer the Pre-Apprenticeship Course. In 2016 the outreach centre was reintegrated into the main centre and reconstituted as the Design and Graphics Department. In 2016 a Hairdressing and Barbering course was introduced and further developments are planned in 2017.
Certification at QQI Level 3 and 4 is offered to all participants
