About this location
Kylemore Community Training Centre (KCTC), formerly a Community Training Workshop, first opened its doors circa 1981 in a classroom in a De La Salle primary school in Ballyfermot.
Originally, it was part of a larger social project supporting the people of the parish who at that time were living in an area with high levels of unemployment.
Collaboration between the Dominican sisters and FÁS (now SOLAS) realised an opportunity to provide a second chance education to the young people of the area while addressing concerns
from local parents. The workshop opened on the conditional basis of attendance, progress reports and an identified level of skills being obtained by the trainees.
To this day KCTC has sustained its position immersed within the community by ensuring the training we offer is relevant and labour market related. We promote a positive attitude to lifelong
learning; active citizenship and social inclusion using a learner centred holistic approach to development.
