About this location
Youth Train was established in 1999 and initially based in Wexford Town. In 2013 we moved to new premises in Whitemill Industrial Estate that have offered us the chance to develop our programmes and greater opportunities for the learners who train with us.
There are up to 40 young people engaged with Youth Train at any one time. Youth Train provides the safe and welcoming space within which each young person can be supported and challenged
to identify and pursue plans for their own development. Recent improvements funded through the Waterford Wexford Education Training Board include a state of the art Training Kitchen and
Trades Workshop. With dedicated staff, these facilities enable us to develop training and attitudes that employers are looking for.
Youth Train is a Community Training Centre and has nurtured relationships with local groups and employers to create additional supports and progression paths for learners. These links keep the
CTC’s work meaningful and relevant, connecting learners with real employment opportunities.
CTCs Got Ideas:
In 2016 Youth Train contributed to an ERASMUS+ funded initiative tracing the progress of European NEETS from inactivity to employment. In the photo at Youth Train are representatives of Youth Train (Wexford), FACE (France), Espiral (Spain), SIPTU Ideas Institute and Pour La Solidarite (Geneva)
CTCs Got Talent:
In 2012 the first South East CTC Olympics was hosted by Youth Train in Rosslare. Each year since, CTCs in Wexford, Carlow, Waterford and Kilkenny have dedicated a day to celebrating and competing in sports and craft activities. The CTC Olympics give staff, learners and volunteers a day to have some fun, see another part of the country and build the relationships that make the work of CTCs so effective.
